3.500 slices of apple cake, 4.000 audio phone tours and thousands of visitors

De Rotterdam has been open to the public for one week now. In the past few days the ship has already attracted many interested visitors. Some 4.000 people have come on board and taken a tour with an audio-phone guide. Furthermore, more than 700 guests have dined in the Club Room restaurant and 12.500 guests have visited the Lido for a cup of coffee, lunch and the apple cake has been a great favourite. No less than 3.500 slices have been consumed.

To signal that the ship is open to the public, on 15 February De Rotterdam painted the city yellow. With the motto: “It’s better on board De Rotterdam”, many bike saddles in the city were appropriately decked out with yellow saddle covers. Hundreds of large yellow balloons – with the text “This way to De Rotterdam” – adorned the route from the city centre to the ship. 

Full speed

De Rotterdam is open and already going at full speed! In the last few weeks the Cruise Hotel has received well over 1.500 booking requests. The Lido has welcomed 12.500 guests and served 7.500 cups of coffee, 2.500 cups of tea, 4.500 glasses of wine and 4.000 glasses of beer.

Since the test run in mid December, On Board On Shore –  De Rotterdam’s party and catering operator – has catered for more than 10.000 guests on board. The highlight was on 30 January when as many as 2,884 guests from Vereniging De Lijn visited the ship for an “open house day”.

It’s fantastic to see so much activity on board and around the ship. Though it did take a tremendous effort! Everyone did their utmost to be able to be of service to all the visitors. We are now focusing on the further optimisation of all our operations. We are hard at work”
