Studying onboard ss Rotterdam
Last year 250 students from Albeda College and Zadkine received practical training onboard ss Rotterdam. The ship provides many training options (e.g. security, facility services, secretarial, maintenance, engineering, hotel and catering & tourism).

In fact, some students receive full training onboard the ship. In Dutch the project is called Stage Sterren op de Rotterdam (Trainee stars onboard Rotterdam). The project is a joint venture between Hotel & Restaurants and both ROCs. In special classrooms dedicated to this purpose students are trained to become chefs and hosts (level 2), gaining both practical and theoretical experience. To organise traineeships and courses onboard, a traineeship office has been called into existence in cooperation with ss Rotterdam.

In association with e.g. Albeda College and ROC Zadkine, each year we welcome 250 students and trainees.

Gouden Wereld Stage Ster (Gold World Trainee Star)
Not easy to pocket! This Star was meant for one of the trainees who joined us onboard ss Rotterdam in 2011, making a devastating impression. 

And the 2011 winner is: Ruben Huisman, the Facility Service student from Albeda College. In fact, we offered Ruben a job onboard the ship. The three final contests were Aletta Kieboom, Ruben Huisman and Ümit Acar. All three candidates were praised for their input, fellowship, punctuality and hospitality. The professional jury members finally decided that Ruben definitely stood out.
